Accessibility and security, built in.

What Lumi does to keep a district website accessible and secure, in plain language. If your technology director wants the technical details, we'll cover them in your demo.

The ADA Title II deadlines

The Justice Department's ADA Title II rule requires state and local government websites, including public school districts, to meet WCAG 2.1 AA. In April 2026 the department moved the compliance dates back by one year.

The extension only changed the dates. The standard is the same, and districts are still expected to keep their websites accessible in the meantime. Which date applies depends on the size of the public entity, so check with your district's counsel if you're unsure.

What Lumi takes care of

  • The public site and every block are built to WCAG 2.1 AA, so a page made from them starts out accessible.
  • Every AI-drafted page is checked for alt text, heading order, clear link text and brand colors before it can be saved.
  • PDFs have their language, title and tagged-PDF markers set the moment they're uploaded.
  • Lunch and breakfast menus are laid out as accessible pages, not image or PDF uploads.
  • Pages work on phones, so families aren't stuck pinching and zooming.

What still needs people

No software can make every piece of content accessible on its own. Videos still need captions, photos need descriptions that make sense, and pages need clear writing.

Lumi takes care of the structure and the checks, so your staff can spend their time on the words and pictures, not on headings and markup.

Keeping the site secure

Lumi is hosted, monitored and kept up to date for you, so the district doesn't run a server or install updates.

  • Staff sign in with their district Google account, and only accounts on the district's domain get in.
  • Separate admin and editor roles, so people only have the access they need.
  • Every page change is saved in its revision history, so mistakes can be undone.
  • Protection against abuse, with security logging and error monitoring.
  • Hosted on Cloudflare's global network, so pages load quickly and stay up when traffic spikes.
