Timeline

  1. Before

    A legacy SharpSchool site

West Central Area Schools ran its public website on SharpSchool, a hosted school website platform.

  2. Kickoff

    28 planned phases

The rebuild was planned up front as a sequence of phases, each one small enough to finish and verify on its own.

  3. Build

    Context, plan, execute, verify

Every phase went through the same four steps, and every deploy was gated on lint, type-check and tests.

  4. June 16, 2026

    isd2342.org goes live on Lumi

The district's site moved to Lumi in production, 8 weeks after kickoff.

What changed for staff

Pages are built from panes

Staff assemble pages from 28 reusable panes and check the phone layout in a side-by-side preview before publishing.

Dates are entered once

Calendar events sync from Google Calendar on a schedule, and families can subscribe with an .ics feed.

The directory updates itself

Names, titles, buildings and photos sync from Google Workspace, so new staff appear without a ticket.

Sign-in uses district accounts

Staff sign in with their district Google Workspace account. Access is locked to the district domain.

Old posts take themselves down

News, jobs and pages can be given an expiration date when they're written.

PDFs are fixed on upload

Uploaded PDFs get their language, title and tagged PDF markers set automatically.
